The British Open 2011 Without Tiger? Will Rory Be the One?

The 2011 professional golf season has been a very difficult one to predict. Tiger Woods had a rough start before being injured, although he had a promising showing at the Masters. It seems likely that he won’t be back before the British Open, meaning he will miss at least two majors this year. A comeback in time for the British Open would be miraculous.

Rory McIlroy definitely has to be the favorite coming in. He had the Masters in his hip pocket before the pressure got him in the final round. He learned from this and won the next major, the U.S. Open by 8 strokes. His swing looks great, his attitude is good. The young man is only 20 years old is a wonderful role model. It looks like he may be the next great star. So often we predict these things and they don’t happen. But, it would be great for the game if this comes to pass.
